The Peekskill NAACP AND Dr. Hazel N. Dukes

Our Connection

The Peekskill NAACP is saddened by the passing of our champion, Dr. Hazel N. Dukes.  Her fight was not in vain as she continued until her last breath to advocate for Black and brown people in the State of NY and beyond.  Her advocacy can be shown not just through newspaper articles, but through her actions.  Our quarterly and yearly conference meetings with Dr. Dukes (mama Dukes) were not just informative but a tell-all of how passionate she was about the work of the NAACP.  We will miss her leadership, her quick-witted remarks and of course, her love for the Peekskill NAACP.  As we reinstated our branch in 2015, she was transparent in her love for the work we have done and continue to do.

We dedicate this page to our She-ro.  Pictures sometimes speak louder than words.  Sleep in Peace warrior, you were truly a good and faithful servant!
